Shooting Stars Bounce Back with a Dominant 82–69 Win Over Brampton

After a heartbreaking loss earlier in the week, the Scarborough Shooting Stars responded exactly how great teams do, with a statement victory.
In front of 2,167 fans at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, the Shooting Stars defeated the Brampton Honey Badgers 82-69, putting together one of their most complete performances of the season despite missing their star player, Myles Powell who was ejected early in the game.

From the opening tip, Scarborough controlled the game on the defensive end. The Shooting Stars held Brampton to just 28% shooting from the field and 21% from three-point range, while winning the rebounding battle 73-51. Their physicality in the paint proved to be the difference, outscoring the Honey Badgers 38-24 inside while also recording 12 blocked shots.
Frank Mitchell was an absolute force in the paint, finishing with 14 points and an incredible 22 rebounds, one of the most dominant rebounding performances of the CEBL season.
Javan Johnson led the offense with 19 points, while Kellen Tynes added 11 points and continued to facilitate the offense. Aamir Simms quietly filled the stat sheet with 10 rebounds and 5 assists, helping Scarborough control the game's tempo.
While the Shooting Stars shot just 34% from the field, their relentless defense more than made up for it. Every loose ball seemed to belong to the home team, and second-chance opportunities kept Brampton from building any momentum.

Looking Ahead
The win serves as an important bounce-back after Monday's narrow loss to Ottawa and keeps the Shooting Stars firmly among the league's top teams heading into the heart of the season.
Up next, the Shooting Stars (11-2) host the Montreal Alliance (7-6) at home on Canada Day at 4pm. Tune in on CBC Gem.
